First up some revelatory news that I know will help thousands of self-employed people across the region today. Come in close... closer...o.k that's close enough...
ahem...TAX DOESN'T HAVE TO BE TAXING
I know I know, when I first heard those magical words I too was confounded as to why I had ever put off doing my tax return. Here is the answer to all our fears, these six words of carefully chosen copy can allay our worry and bind us to the kitchen table for hour after hour of mind-numbingly enjoyable form filling ^^raises eyebrow^^
So it's only 1 month until all those self-assessment tax returns have to be, well, returned and that clock is a ticking.
I recently found my tax return form and bible weight tax return guide hidden under a mass of papers and debris that are intentionally lost until about a day after they are needed, so the fact that I have my form at all is something of a miracle. However even if I didn't have my form, the wonder of technology now means that I can complete my taxes 'on-line' as long as I have my unique reference number, which I found today on my paper tax return form, but thats by the by.
I actually thought that the tax returns had to be filled out by the 1st of September until I got on the Inland Revenues website today so I feel as though I have been offered a reprieve of sorts. This is dangerous thinking of course because before I know it it'll be September 30th and my blog on that day will read: 'Gone fishing.'
