Views to and from Lindisfarne

Posted by Ian Brown on March 12, 2008 10:40 PM |

The Barn at Beal is open for business and I am impressed.....it has a view of Lindisfarne or if you prefer Holy Island that takes your breath away.
The second event I went to was last Sunday at St Mary's Church in Morpeth where the New Archdeacon of Lindisfarne was 'collated', licensed or if you prefer inaugurated.

The common theme is that the special landscape and visionary leaders can create one of the most special environments anywhere in the UK....and it is on our doorstep!!!!

Within the wild landscape of Northumberland it may seem that there is a lack of economic activity. Rod Smith is a good example to show that is not the case - he recently took part in Landlines - and challenged the train going public to think how farmers change the view out of their carriage window every day. He is allowing parts of his farm to be flooded by the sea to become saltmarsh as well as creating a thriving cafe, shop, and educational venue. The live feed camera onto the causeway will also catch the wildlife as well as car drivers with a complete lack of judgement who will cross at the wrong time...these people can now chill out with a coffee till the tide goes back out.

Christianity made this part of Northumberland and as such I was honoured to hear the opening sermon by Dr Peter Robinson as the latest Archdeacon of Lindisfarne, his patch is - near enough - the county of Northumberland and he seems to have a grip on the economic issues within the special landscapes that cover Northumberland.

The common theme for me is a deep seated understanding of the area and ability to work with others for improvement. I think I'm inspired to do more mission work and thanks for the Church of England and Natural England for the invites!
