No quick fix for North East manufacturing

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released figures this week showing the UK manufacturing sector shrank by 0.7pc in October. Manufacturing output was also revised down for September to just 0.1pc growth from a previous estimate of 0.2pc.

Bringing North East businesses together in a way that works

I have already blogged about ConnectFriday, a new way to bring North East businesses together to build relations and collaborate on the green, climate resilient and low-carbon agenda, and I'm really excited that we're going ahead with a second event in the New Year.
The first event, which we hosted in November, was met with fantastic feedback and a request that ConnectFriday events take place every other month.

What is the difference between adaptation and mitigation?

Forward-thinking businesses must not only consider how to reduce their environmental impact, but also how to adapt and build resilience to the expected impacts of climate change as part of their wider business model.
The former is known as mitigation and the latter as adaptation. And clarification on this is very often sought. So, what is the difference between adaptation and mitigation?
