I have already blogged about ConnectFriday, a new way to bring North East businesses together to build relations and collaborate on the green, climate resilient and low-carbon agenda, and I'm really excited that we're going ahead with a second event in the New Year.
The first event, which we hosted in November, was met with fantastic feedback and a request that ConnectFriday events take place every other month.
It's evident that an informal way of getting businesses together to network, share ideas, and look at ways to work together is very much wanted here in the North East.
Among those who attended were Nicola Alexander, MD of Daisy Green, and Gary Thompson, MD of C2M UK, who met through ClimateNE's Annual event back in the summer. They have worked together on many collaborative projects that will keep on growing - so this is an example of how ConnectFriday can genuinely work.
Those who came along also said that they want the event to stay informal without presentations or formalities.
We will also look at ways to ease initial introductions and will share delegate information on the day so you'll know who is in the room. We will also look to 'match' and facilitate introductions to other businesses where possible. Just email me at Jennifer.atkinson@northeastcouncils.gov.uk with details of the kind of business that you would like to meet and we'll do the rest where possible.
We also received ideas and offers for other locations so expect to see ConnectFriday events taking place in different venues throughout the North East over the course of 2012
The next ConnectFriday will take place on Friday 27 January, again at the Settle Down café in Newcastle upon Tyne from 8am to 9.30am. You can register to attend via http://connectfriday2.eventbrite.co.uk. We've already taken bookings, in fact we're a third full already, so do register as soon as you can.
Hope to see you on 27 January!
